Description
This is a charming English pitcher that was made at the Price & Kensington Potteries in Staffordshire, England. It is a large piece of the company’s “Cottage Ware” line that stands approximately 7 7/8” in height and 7” in width, including handle and spout.
The main image featured on this pitcher is of a horse, rider and two hunting dogs.
Displayed in the background is an English Tudor-style cottage with white windows.
Embossed designs, a unique handle and a fancy scalloped rim and spout further enhance this pitcher.
The Price Kensington green laurel leaf ink stamp, “Price Kensington – Made in England – Cottage Ware – Reg. No. 845007”, is located on the base along with the embossed words, “Made in England – Cottage”.
There is another embossed mark that I was unable to decipher.
The registration number, “845007” dates to 1945.
Despite some manufacturing flaws and overall crazing, this handsome pitcher is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, discolorations or any evidence of damage.
