I just purchased this English art pottery miniature bud vase from a local estate here in Central Virginia. The piece is characteristic of the wares produced a number of Staffordshire potteries during the 1880's (Minton ?). The diminutive vase has a Japanese inspired form with spherical base rising to tightly formed cylinder neck. The piece features an Aesthetic period inspired design with multicolored daisy stems wrapped about the body. The cream ground is speckled with gold highlights. The piece measures 4 ¼" high and 2 ¼" wide. The base shows some decorator marks. The vase is in excellent condition with no damage. This charming Aesthetic bud vase would make a fun addition to your collection of Victorian art pottery miniatures.
